We live in disturbing times. I don’t even need to say that to you, we all know it. Protesters march every day in support of Black Lives Matter to dismantle systematic racism. Fires consume CA, OR, and other places around the globe. This pandemic continues. None of us have been unaffected.

And still, these are not yet the After Times. We’re in that space between. And I am scared.

So why is sex positivity and the mission of Empowered Pleasure important at this moment? I have to admit, I struggled with that. But one thing I know is that it keeps our community connected. It allows for each of us to have a safety net of support. I've seen it so many times in sex positive communities that have come together to help someone going through a life-threatening illness, or surgery to align their body with their gender identity. I've seen it when friends experienced a devastating fire, or lost a job, or lost a loved one. I've seen it in the tiny spaces when someone looks a person in the eye and says: “I see you”. That's how our community behaves and that's why I love it. We connect, love, and support. And that is essential (in my mind) to remaining human.

I’m glad you are a part of it. I hope we can connect in some way very soon.
